These statistics are staggering and unacceptable. That’s why representation in birth work is so essential. Here’s What You’ll Receive Through Virtuous Doula Training Academy
1. Approved Doula Training for Medicaid Support: We’re proud to be an approved training provider for doulas supporting pregnant individuals on Medicaid. This vital focus enables our doulas to make a direct impact on the lives of birthing people who may otherwise struggle to find supportive care.
2. 12-Week Doula Training Program: Weekly sessions that dive deep into the history of Black birth work, essential maternal health skills, community health worker education, and practical competencies. You’ll also receive certifications in CPR and HIPAA compliance, as well as Continuing Education Units (CEUs) to keep growing.
3. Mandatory Clinical Training: Real-world experience is core to your learning. Our program requires hands-on clinical training, where you’ll work alongside nursing staff, practice essential skills, and build confidence in clinical environments. This is your chance to see doula care in action and learn from seasoned professionals.
4. Refresher & Recertification Courses: Every few years, you’ll have access to refresher courses focusing on self-care, mental health screening, cultural sensitivity, and the latest trauma-informed practices.
5. Multilingual & Culturally Inclusive Training: We proudly offer training in French, Arabic, and Somali to support doulas serving diverse communities, particularly in maternal health deserts. We believe in equipping doulas with the cultural competencies needed to meet clients where they are.
